He pursues the suspect, issues a warning, apprehends him, explains the law, and then arrests him. Forever.

We don’t call them “zombies.”

  • Rick’s group calls them walkers.
  • Lately, Rick just refers to the dead.
  • Near Hershel’s farm, we encountered people who called them lamebrains.
  • The Governor referred to biters.
  • Dawn’s group called them rotters.
  • Recently we’ve also heard stinkers (who was that?).

Did I leave any out? What’s your favorite? If you lived in the not-zombie apocalypse, what would you call them?

It’s the second-to-last episode before the winter break, and there’s entirely too much guilt to go around here. It seems everybody’s got a bad case of it, from Sasha in her survivor guilt to hothead Abraham and the shady security guards of Grady Memorial.

There are a lot of windows in episode 4.06, Consumed, of The Walking Dead. Our friends (Daryl and Carol, mostly) gaze through them; their zombie tormentors bang on them; we even see some pretty good gallows humor written on them.

Any episode of The Walking Dead that begins on a hopeful note — with the survivors reminiscing in a sunny field, or perhaps speeding north in a bus on an empty road — is bound to end in mayhem, or perhaps death. That’s one of the new rules of the zombiefied world, and it’s as […]

Talk about bad luck. The zombie apocalypse started only months after health care reform became law, so guess what never got done? ANYTHING. Pre-existing conditions still rule, deductibles are out of control, and there’s exactly one doctor in your network. One. And he sucks!

More Gareth? WHY? This was my first question of episode 4. Understand: I live in San Francisco, where thousands of Gareth clones are now remaking my home city according to their own arrogant specifications. Yelling into their cellphones. Ordering four-star takeout food from their Minis. Planning to build condos on top of our world-famous Flower […]

This is a nightmare. Nightmares end. – Bob to Rick If the world of walkers has its own rules, this must be one of them: Any day that starts well is going to end really, really badly. Another: That guy you don’t trust today isn’t necessarily the one who will hurt you tonight.

In its thrilling fifth-season premiere (No Sanctuary), The Walking Dead takes us back to Terminus — the survivors’ concentration camp where our heroes were imprisoned at the end of last season. Terminus is a place with its own special mission, values, and amenities; but you probably wouldn’t want to spend a weekend there.

Hey Basketcases! We’re switching things up around here. After three years of writing Homeland recaps, Basketwriter Anne B. just can’t go on without Brody. Meanwhile, our Walking Dead recaps have suffered from some inconsistency, with three different regular writers (Arthur, Peg, and me) in just four seasons. From here on out, Anne B. is in […]
