Joan lives in the west village which has the nicest apartments. This is also where there’s a large gay population. The Stonewall was located there.

I find it strange that she lives in the village. I need to find out more about Greenwich Village in the early 60s, but I’m pretty sure it was already kind of artsy, and Joan cares more about appearances than that. (I mean, she might as well live in Newark or something.)
