Well, that certainly wasn’t the season finale anybody was expecting. I’m fairly certain we were all expecting something very similar to the books, since that’s what the series seemed to be leading up to, and that is certainly not what we got from this show.
I have to give The Walking Dead credit. Although I talk about how predictable the moment-to-moment stuff can be, all of the really important stuff is pretty hard to see coming, especially who lives and who dies. Except for their tendency to give character development for someone who’s never had it as a way of broadcasting that character’s death, they consistently don’t let you know who’s gonna die more than an episode in advance. This season I was especially surprised by character deaths, except for last week’s.
