  1. Allison Hope Weiner, Matt Weiner’s sister, conducts an interesting interview with Jessica Pare for Media Mayhem that was published on the Internet yesterday and discusses episodes that have already aired so far this season.

  2. Vincent Kartheiser as Mr. Darcy, July through August 31st at the Guthrie.

Does this mean the production of the final season (gulp!) of Mad Men won’t happen until late Fall, 2013?

    • Production of Season 6 did not start in Los Angeles until November 2012 and yet the Season 6 premiere was on schedule, 7 April 2013. Post production of several episodes was still being done until a couple of weeks ago, but that was also true of Seasons 1-4.

Besides, the fact VK is performing in a play at night hardly precludes him attending pre-production meetings, such as costume fittings.

MW’s track record is that the only cast members he has extensive pre-production meetings with are Jon Hamm and John Slattery. Liz Moss says she gets a phone call.

    • Production for the show usually starts in mid fall. This season taping began late October 2012.

  3. Matthew Weiner was on this past Thursday’s episode of “By the Way: In Conversation with Jeff Garlin”

There’s some Mad Men talk, especially at the end when the audience is allowed to ask questions, but it was recorded a while ago so nothing about the current season. It’s mostly just a very enjoyable chat with everyone’s favorite showrunner. The description from the website:

“Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner sits down with Jeff to talk about a post-Jeopardy winning encounter with Alex Trebek, how Groundhog Day played a major inspired him to continue to write, and being kicked in the butt by an actor who was on a sitcom he wrote for. Also, he reveals who “the one guy” his wife believed to be the funniest person she’d ever met in her life other than him is.”

  4. This article discusses theories on the significance of Room 503 in the last episode, and speculates that theory #5 is the correct one.

  5. Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston is #8 on Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People 2013 list …

  6. Taiga- Interesting!

  7. There’s also a NY Times article with January Jones. Ummm…not really dispelling the myth that she’s not super warm and fuzzy.
