  1. Game of Thrones at 9 and Mad Men at 10? I’m going to be the happiest of campers come April.

  2. HAPPINESS. 🙂 🙂

  3. Are they counting Ep 501 as two episodes (meaning that there will only be 12 produced this season?)

  4. Thanks for the TV-line link as well. Am I the only one nervous?

  5. I am so pumped. 🙂

  6. Two hour episode??? I just had an orgasm. 12 week season gives us June 10 as the finale party date. [Please re-read our spoiler policy. -Lippsisters]

  7. Tilden Katz,

Thanks to your comment, I’m nervous about ever checking the comments on this board again. Why would you post an episode title in the comments section? I didn’t think any spoilers would jump out at me, but I guess I’ve learned my lesson.

    • No, the offending comment has been edited. I went to the movies. We don’t actually sit here 24/7 waiting for bad comments to moderate. I got to it as quick as I could.

  8. Is there a season premiere party? or just a finale?

Also… that episode title was named in a link in basket of news on Friday. Although they ask not to discuss it here, which seemed like a lot of temptation 🙂

  9. A link — not on the site itself. I did not volitionally seek out that information nor did I want it blithely posted here with no regard for those who prefer to not know episode titles way in advance.

  10. [Please re-read the comment policy. –Lippsisters]

  11. Gaaaaaaaahhhhhh! TWO WHOLE FLIPPIN HOURS, can’twaitcan’twait!!!!!

  12. And….AMC will make the premiere 2-hour episode available on their website for free viewing the morning after in case anyone needs to watch it over and over and over to possibly make up for the missed 16 months!

  13. I feel like I’m going to have to take off that Monday from work because I’ll be up so late re-watching the two hour ep, and then I’ll just continue watching for a week straight.

I have been watching old episodes for so long now, that I can’t even imagine watching something that I haven’t memorized word for word. I watched “The Suitcase” the other day, and the entire Don/Peggy blow-up scene…I was able to mouth the words.

  14. I’m really curious what the spoilers in these comments were about, I missed them. I’ve never been one to keep myself from them xD Is there any chance I could covertly be pointed in the right direction?

  15. [No, you were asked to check the comment policy, not the spoiler policy. Check again. –Lippsisters]

  16. Will there be a party?

  17. I think there’s been a misunderstanding 🙁

  18. I am surprised that we haven’t seen an AMC TV S5 trailer, or official set photos like we have in previous seasons.

  19. My People- I’ve been thinking the same thing. Take Monday off, in prep for a 1966/67 MM party I plan to throw!

Although, I kinda hate the idea of having to hostess when I really just want to concentrate on the show.

    • I would prefer attending a party to hosting for the exact reason you mentioned: I’d like to be able to focus on the show! But if everyone thought that way, there would be no parties.

You don’t have to be Betty/Carla all rolled into one.
You can do a form of potluck (with some recommendations as to what guest bring).

Chinese take-out (If memory serves, Joan orders Chinese and deli meats for the Christmas party in “Christmas Comes but Once a Year”; Greg and Joan have Chinese take-out in “A Night to Remember”; or just a nod to the title “Chinese Wall”)

Greek take-out (Don and Peggy eat at the Greek restaurant in “The Suitcase”; a nod to Teddy)

Pancake party with rum on top (as Sally makes for Don in “The Beautiful Girls”). I hear you can make pancakes in advance, freeze them, and then reheat them in the microwave or oven.

Take out hibachi (“Chrysanthemum and the Sword”)

      Sugarberry Ham

Chip & Dip–any kind of chip, any kind of dip, find some crazy bowls

Heinekin (or anything else from the Int’l party)

      Bottles of booze

I think you can order Utz potato chips online

Milkshakes (“Tomorrowland”)–this would be messy, though.

      “Faye’s cookies”

A frozen cake like the fill-in cake in “The Marriage of Figaro”

I’m sure there are many more options…

  20. The second I hit send I went all nonono wtf oh jesus. So sorry. There’s no excuse, complete bonehead move. I throw myself at the mercy of the court.

  21. So when will Season 6 be aired? Next year at the same time as Season 5? Next year at the usual time (Late July to October)? They probably couldn’t do another season in 2012 at the usual time, right?

  22. Tilden,

I appreciate your apology. [deleted for violation of comment policy]

[deleted for violation of spoiler policy]

    • No, you are in the moderation queue, nothing you post will appear without being first seen by a moderator. Further violations of our policies will cause us to ban you without any conversation about why. If there’s a part of our comment or spoiler policy, both of which are in the main menu, that is confusing to you, please ask.

    • Just to clarify, we are not going to allow any discussion about whether anything might, or might not, be a spoiler. We are going to allow episode titles as they are officially released.

  23. Rather strange responses…

The idea of allowing episode titles because they are officially released is more than a little silly, but why bother arguing when any sort of contrary opinion is precipitately excised?

I’m somewhat perturbed, evidently. Mad Men is my favourite show, looking forward to the 5th season (obviously), etc. What I’m worried about is having to sit through the first four episodes wondering whether or not some random POTENTIAL spoiler I came across is true… That would be really unpleasant.

Is there a way for me to contact Tilden Katz so I can either confirm whether my worries are warranted or unnecessary? Private Message? E-mail? Anything that would allow me to take this dialogue off of this page and somewhere else? To be honest, I’d really just like to KNOW the validity or falsity of what I read rather than be left in uncertainty. I’m hoping that it turns out that what she noted is just speculation based on the episode title… this is what I’ve been TRYING to figure out.

Also — if it WAS indeed Katz’s speculation based on the episode title, and you allow us to discuss episode titles…. then, if she were to respond by affirming that “Yes, what I said was solely conjecture based on the episode title”… then wouldn’t that still be conforming to your rules? Furthermore, if she said, “No, what I said was actually something I read on a spoiler site”, wouldn’t that ALSO be conforming to your rules, as what she originally said has been deleted and my example does not involve any explicit details whatsoever? Without citing your rules by rote, please explain why such a scenario would be problematic? At the very least, if Katz is only going to confirm that it was her speculation based on the episode title, then you can obviously allow for this… no?

I’d appreciate clarification in this case, please.

    • No, if you want to be contacted off-line, you’re welcome to place a real email address here.

There are all sorts of murky areas with spoilers, we do our best not to upset even the purest of spirgins, but sometimes things slip through. There was a leaked picture of Don and Megan poolside, from Tomorrowland, that I must have deleted links to fifty times last year, yet I’m sure many people saw it via links in comments.

There will not, however, be further conversation about specific potential spoilers here. There will also not be name-calling about anyone. Ever. Even if you’re sure you’re right.

  24. Just to clarify, when did I name-call? I don’t recall doing so and if I did, I apologize.

    • I am approving this only because I want everyone to understand who and what we are here. We discuss television. We discuss Mad Men, Hell on Wheels, The Walking Dead, Downton Abbey. We discuss movies and books. We do not discuss one another. Any characterization of another poster or of the site owners, any “you are this” or “you are that” is off-topic and unwelcome.

As the season starts and things get very busy here, it will be incredibly hard to keep up with comments and things will slip through. It is up to all the Basketcases to honor these rules and to understand how they maintain the integrity of the site.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
