One of the unsung features of Basket of Kisses is our periodic book reviews. Yes, we cater to the intellectual TV fans, and so for our December Fundraiser, I thought I’d take you on a stroll through our literary endeavors.
- Way back in 2008, I heard about a novel set in a 1960s ad agency, and with The Learners, our book review feature was born.
- One of my favorites, and maybe one of Joan Harris’s?, was my review of the biography of Helen Gurley Brown: Bad Girls Go Everywhere.
- Lois might like to read a history of secretarial work.
- But perhaps more to Peggy’s liking was Ad Women, a history of women in the advertising field. Or, she might be interested in When Everything Changed, a history of the modern feminist movement.
- Fashion fantatic? Lots of Basketcases are! We reviewed Virtual Vintage, as well as The Fashion File, by our beloved Janie Bryant.
- Salvatore would read Bryan Batt’s first book and his second one as well.
- Find specifically Mad Men-related books here, here, and here.
