Big Walking Dead News: First, Season 2 premieres Sunday, Oct. 16, at 9/8c. Meanwhile, showrunner Frank Darabont is stepping down. [Given many of last year's script and pacing problems, maybe they're better off. D] Why can’t Christina Hendricks play a walker?

Mad Men starts shooting Season 5 next week.

We have Mad Men in movie trailers!  Vincent Kartheiser is In Time with Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried.  Christina Hendricks takes a Drive with Ryan Gosling and Albert Brooks.  Michael Gladis joins The Knights of Badassdom with Danni Pudi, Peter Dinklage and Summer Glau.

John Slattery joined Glee’s Mike O’Malley for some Boston Red Sox pregame coverage of the team’s charitable “Picnic in the Park.”  And yes, there is discussion of Mad Men and the Emmys in the video. JS, a native Bostonian, also threw the ceremonial first pitch,  firing a strike to Darnell McDonald.

Sarah Drew is pregnant, but not by Salvatore Romano.

At a Children of the City benefit, Bryan Batt reveals:  ”I got kicked off the school bus for my puppet shows,” he said. “I did Gypsy. They didn’t like the strippers.” At the premiere of the final season of Entourage, BB said he would make Christina Hendricks part of his entourage. (It appears that Entourage’s Ari Gold is not a fan of Mad Men.)   THR has a story that implies BB is returning in Season 5. [I discussed this with Roberta, who does not think that sort of news would leak.  Given BB's quotes on his Australian trip (he still considers himself very much part of the MM family), I am inclined to agree and take the story with at least a grain of salt.  -K]

With all four seasons of Mad Men streaming on Netflix starting this week, the HuffPo lists top picks from each. Kiernan Shipka also adds a favorite.

Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt are still shooting Friends With Kids in Clinton Hill.  Also, Jon will appear in five episodes of IFC’s The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret during its second season.

Elisabeth Moss turns up in the sidebar to a Daily Mail story about the Mulberry bag fortune.

Maggie Siff talks to Stuff (NZ) about her current role on Sons of Anarchy.

Charles Shaughnessy will be reunited with Fran Drescher on TVLand.

PopMatters explains why Mad Men was the No. 10 highlight of 2011, instead of the No. 1 lowlight.

MM scribe Terry McMillan explains “Why You’re Not Married.” [I think "controversial" would be the adjective for this one. -K]

Some advertising agencies are not buying into AMC’s reality show, The Pitch.

The IBM Selectric — identified as a “star of Mad Men” — turns 50.

IndieWire soothes its MM withdrawal with 60s commercials.

Down under, Mad Men has spurred business for vintage hairstyling at the Sterling Hairdressing Parlour and Barber Shop.

  1. Thank you for including my Love Bites info! It was a really cute episode–I recommend it for anyone who has a chance to watch. (“Modern Plagues”) And, of course, great to see Matt Long and Patrick Cavanaugh working together. In addition to NBC’s website, you can also currently watch it through Free On Demand, if you have that feature through your cable company. For anyone who wants to watch, I’d recommend watching it sooner rather than later – now that “Love Bites” has been cancelled, I’m not sure how much longer NBC will keep the episodes up.

Congrats to Sarah Drew on her pregnancy – I only recently realized that she is now a regular on Grey’s Anatomy, as I haven’t watched it in a while.

  2. So excited it looks like VK’s role in “In Time” will be significant.
