Hey all.

Normally, I receive screeners on Thursdays, and you have a shiny post about The Killing on Sundays right after it’s over. This week, I got on a plane Thursday afternoon, and came home Monday evening. So this week’s post is delayed. Please pretend I complained about the lack of character development and admired the visual beauty and we’ll resume posting ASAP.

  1. Are you sure you didn`t miss your flight at the last minute, or get caught up into something and decide not to take it?

  2. Maybe you got rained out. whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

It was a good one, enjoy. I don’t care what anybody says, I really love this show, but then I adored Rubicon as well.

  3. I know the critical tide has turned against this show but I too (like Suz in Atlanta) continue to love it. Maybe I have truly lowered expectations based on all the dreck that is substituted for TV entertainment these days, but I do look forward to Sunday nights, am not bothered by the slow pace, and find the slow revelations about each character much more interesting than the blaring tell-it-all-in-the-first-3-minutes style of most network TV. I like characters to be mysteries in themselves. Maybe it’s the secret detective in me that enjoys having the onion peeled away slowly.

So…I’m glad you wonderful bloggers are sticking with it despite your own feelings of being short-changed. Know that at least part of your devoted audience appreciates the efforts!

  4. I completely agree with Suz and Susan El. I still love this show. Granted it’s not perfect–but as Susan says, it’s so much better than the usual “dreck.” So I, too, appreciate your staying with it.

I hope the original Danish version (with subtitles!) will be available in the U.S. sometime soon. I’d like to see the pacing, etc. When I think of the many foreign films I’ve seen, including murder mysteries, I recall them being slower and with more subtle emotional expression than even good American films. So I wonder if part of the problem is in fairly faithfully converting a European mystery to an American series…. Just a thought.
