According to People.com, January Jones is expecting her first child! Her rep has confirmed the news!!! Although Ms. Jones has been linked to a few famous faces, like SNL’s Jason Sudeikis ( they broke up earlier this year), the identity of the father has not been released.
Congratulations to the former Mrs. Draper!!!

Aww, that’s so exciting for January. I wonder if they’ll work her pregnancy into the fifth season? This fall will be right around the time they’ll start filming, no?

Hopefully they won’t write it into the show. The last thing Betty needs is another child. If she is pregnant while filming I guess she’ll be holding a lot of coats and handbags in front of her stomach.
That Cleveland Leader article…bwuh? “she’s not completely out of the woods”? makes it sound like either a) she has cancer, or b) the father’s identity IS A COMPLETE MYSTERY TO HER TOO. I’m sure she knows the deal.

Glenn Bishop did predict to Sally that eventually, Betty and Henry Francis would have a baby. And four children? Not unheard of, in Betty’s era. (I’m one of six, born the year depicted in S4.)
I’m down for however the writers want to work it in, however JJ feels like playing it. And I have to say: I like all the possibilities.
Including the chance that it’s Don’s.

@rowan: I lost 12 pounds my first trimester before going on to gain 35. Morning sickness is a terrible thing.
Jesus, you should see some of the comments at Celebrity Baby Scoop…it’s like we’re in 1955 or something. People still cannot get a grip on a single woman having a child with no partner.
Thanks, Deb, I was wondering that. Pretty sure I saw some nasty articles that pointed out how thin she is lately, and guessing she was starving herself-with this news, it is more likely she was just a very sick pregnant woman. Poor thing!
JS, look at what Natalie Portman and then Kate Hudson are going through in the press…….January’s gonna get painted with the same brush, only worse, since she is not openly in any relationship, much less revealing the name of the father at all. Not that it’s anyones business anyways, but the public attacks are sure to continue, unfortunately.

@8 cat-That’s my guess. Wearing coats, which is possible since we don’t know what month season 5 is going to start in, standing behind counters, carrying bags, lots of scenes with her sitting/in bed, and shooting her from particular angles.
@10 Anne B-Is Henry ready to be a father again? He strikes me as being a more involved father than Don.
I apologize for being a little off-topic, but do you think Sally and Henry’s daughter are going to have any interaction beyond sitting across the table at major holidays?

@ 11 susan F- I know that second hand smoke is bad/dangerous, but are there any adverse effects to the herbal cigarettes? Will January Jones be able to be on set while other characters are smoking?
@17 talia- I’m going to be revealing my age a little on this one, and I’m sorry if it makes someone feel old. When did information about the dangers of second-hand smoke/adverse impact of smoking while pregnant become common knowledge?
RG, probably early 80s, or late 70s if your doctor was very cutting-edge.
It’s funny how when JJ was “fake pregnant” she could puff away, but now that everyone knows she’s not faking it, it would be a scandal if she did so (even if they hid the pregnancy). Yeah, even herbals; they have plenty of chemicals in them too, they’re just not quite as toxic (and not addictive). They can still have Betty do a bunch of business with the cigarettes, like they can show her taking out the cig and then cut away. But my money is on “Henry makes her quit.” (And if you thought she was tetchy before…)
As for her being around second-hand herbal smoke, it shouldn’t really be an issue. Her scenes are not in the office, and Henry doesn’t smoke, and she’ll be in a whole new milieu in Rye; maybe her new friends (or enemies?) won’t smoke either.
