My blu-ray packing looks exactly the same as the photo above, aside from being thinner and with the obligatory blue margins around it. The standard blu-ray packet plastic cover makes it less sleek and black, what with reflections of ambient light. Is that what you mean? It's the same photo and graphics.
The standard def dvd pack has a 3D quality to the image of the glass on the front, while the blu-ray front cover is just a flat photograph. I don't get why blu-ray packages get pared down (it's not just Mad Men). I also noticed the liner notes on the inside seem truncated. Anyone with the standard def dvd pack – does it give the info of who does which commentary?
Still, there's no comparison to high definition. It's worth buying a blu-ray player just to honor the format and quality of this show alone!

Got mine at Best Buy last night- for $32.99 in-store instead of their $28.99 on-line price (which reminded me why I rarely shop there anymore). Didn't crack them open yet, but I'm looking forward to the extras.
So, last season we had the women's movement in the extras, and this season we have Civil Rights. I guess next season they can do the British Invasion and the beginning of the "real 60s".
Mine arrived in San Diego early this morning, so it'll be in my mailbox tomorrow or Friday, I guess. The estimated delivery date shown on the tracking website is 03/27, but in the past USPS deliveries have usually been a little sooner than the estimated date.
I've read that one of the extras is a documentary about the history of cigarette advertising, which I'm looking forward to seeing.

HELP HELP HELP — this new dvd has SOME commentaries that are hidden like last years. Can somebody remind me how to find them, so I can hear the commentaries on each episode. Many thanks!
all the commentaries are not listed in the special features, although I know they are there. This happened last year with the DVD, there is something that I need to hit on my remote control to bring up say like the third episode, which is not listed, which will give me the commentary.
Oh ok. Hit the audio button on your dvd remore, there should be different audio tracks. Like English 5.1 for Dolby surround sound. The commentary should be under English 2.0 for standard stereo sound. There will be more than one for the episodes with two commentaries.

Sorry for the double post. When you start watching an episode like normal, you hit the audio button, and you can switch between the regular audio track and the different commentaries.
