Our favorite TV ghost dad. (Although Gene was pretty intense, no?)
And can I just say this guy is incredibly handsome?

My favorite TV ghost dad is James Remar on Dexter. But Happy Birthday Mr. Culp. I hope we haven't seen the last of you.
My vote goes to Richard Jenkins on Six Feet Under, but Joseph Culp is a close second.

Belated happy birthday to Joseph … a man who knows quite a bit about the long shadow of a strong father.
Andrew, I'm with you: Richard Jenkins cast a surprising amount of light in his turn as the ghost dad in "Six Feet Under". But I'd have to say that my favorite kind of ghost ancestor would have to be the prophetic kind. Archibald Whitman, with his little "You make bulls**t" rant, neatly filled this role:
