my favorite part of Father Gill's story was when he delivered his sermon with the same three-part "take it, break it, share it" phrasing Peggy had used in the Popsicle campaign.

I also noted on a repeat viewing, tho not originally, that Father Gill doesn't affirm Peggy's statement that he believes in the whole church thing.

Peggy's story is interesting in relation to Father Gill, to me, because it shows she doesn't buy into his attempt to manipulate her even tho, as she noted, the Catholic church knows how to sell things.

Her sister really tried to hurt her via Father Gill and the remarks about not being capable of making her own decisions. Peggy's refusal to buy into that, as well, made me love the Peggy character.

He seemed like more of a late '70s priest to me than the early '60s type.

There's still a part of me that has not forgiven the franchise for killing Yar off, then awkwardly fitting her genome in. And then Romulus, Vulcan... *sigh*.

Hmm...Judy (#4) what information are you talking about? He never actually told Peggy what he knew about her... rather he tried to get her to confess it to him. He never told anyone else. He did w/subtlety, let her know that he knew, but I am not certain he broke any ethical or religious vows by doing that. Thoughts?

Hmm...until Father Gill stops using information gathered in 'anonymous' confessions against people, he's got a lot of growth to be made before he's ready to participate in V2. (says this recovering Catholic...)

Now that you mention it, it could potentially be quite natural to bring Father Gill back in S4. He was a visiting priest in Peggy's parish, but these things are subject to change, and his voice as a part of Vatican II could be a natural step in Peggy's story.

Oh, I wish they would bring Father Gilll/Colin Hanks back! He was just fabulous! He played that guitar playing Jesuit priest that all the parishoners idolized so well!!! Please Matt Weiner bring him back for S4 in some way!!!

Very timely - was just telling someone last evening how wonderful Colin Hanks was in s2. Hope we see him back in s4 with that guitar, it's Vatican II about to happen. Happy Birthday Colin, and Denise!
