Sunday, November 8th, 7:00pm ’til they throw us out (or maybe a little earlier ’cause it’s a school night) is our second annual BoK Season Finale Party.
This year we are residing at Legends, at 6 W 33rd at 5th– downstairs in the Empire Room. Right near the Empire State Building, Penn Station and wait for it… Madison Square Garden.
This is an Irish sports bar/pub style restaurant, and we have a large room, our own bartender and seven TV screens. We’ll be offered a limited menu of appetizers, salads and sandwiches, and there will be a few theme drink offerings in addition to a full bar.
So there will be food and a cash bar and therefore we are not charging admission to this event. We want this accessible to everyone–we want to hang with as many Basketcases as possible! If you want to kick in, there’s a paypal donation button right over there to your left, and at the party we will have a big ol’ Donation Basket. Plus we’ll do a 50/50 or something.
Contests? Prizes?
You betcha. It’s all in the works.
Costumes? Period dress?
Okay honestly? Not our thing. So the answer is yes, you are welcome to Mad Men it up, and we’re certain you will not be alone doing it, but it’s not required.
If you’re on facebook, stop by the event and RSVP. It’s our only shot at a headcount, as we are not doing an e-type vite. Just this (and we’ll keep on linking back to this) and the facebook event.
Also, check back here from time to time for updates.
In the house will be Deborah and me, hullaballoo, Anne B., B. Cooper and Eme Kay. And a whole host of ‘cases.
I want to be very clear. At this point, we are not guaranteeing a single celebrity guest. We are working on it (really really working on it) and so far have one very tentative ‘maybe’.
But you never know who’ll come walking through our door.

The siren call of the Lipp sisters is irresistable to this old sailor. Damn, I just got back from DC/Chicago and I'm real tempted to fly out to NYC. I gotta come up with some excuse.
I would SO love to be there. But I'm not sure I'm ready to confess to Mr H the full extent of my MM-BoK obsession (although I know he suspects — "What ARE you reading???")
I'll tell my daughter about it though – she's a big MM fan (she's the one who turned me onto it) and lives in Brooklyn.

Um… I'm a Facebook Luddite. (Call it disillusionment; I was a member a couple of years ago and left after one SuperPoke! too many.) Is this the only way I can possibly RSVP? (If the answer to that is "yes," will it help if I ask again with puppy-dog-eyes set to 11?)

@10, Scott, don't sweat it. We just want an idea of how many, we're not trying to convert people to facebook.
I'm a little confused — is it the Empire Room, the newly re-opening bar in the Empire State Building, on 5th Avenue near 33rd Street? Or is it the “empire room†of Legends, which is apparently a bar on 33rd Street, near 5th, close to the Empire State Building? The reason I’m asking is, I’m not familiar with Legends, and a google search that contains both “legends†AND “empire room†doesn’t seem to return any hits.
I mean, I'm sure I'll find it one way or another — it's on my walk home. But I'm just curious if I'm thinking of the right place or not.
