Things that happen at the Basket

Per the request of several Basketcases, I have installed a plugin that allows you to subscribe to comments for an individual post. Let me know if that works for you.

I’m always tinkering with the site. Often, just to make the back end work more smoothly, but I do hope you all love the Random Quote Generator, it’s my personal favorite thing ever. In other news:

  • You probably noticed that “Congratulations! You’ve won!” is a thing of the past.
  • I put a hyperlinked Table of Contents on the top of the About page.
  • I added a link to each season’s cultural references to that season’s episode list.
  • All the Season 1 full recaps have been completely rewritten and new quotes have been added for most episodes. This includes the entire Carousel speech from the Wheel.
  • Full recaps from three of this season’s episodes are already up (maybe four by the time you read this), and quotes from all of them.

We’re here for you, Basketcases!

  1. The “Congratulations! You’ve won!” was hilarious. I always yelled back, "Shut the hell up, no I didn't!"

  2. Deborah, I love the Random Quotes! I noticed you use WordPress; would you mind sharing a link, tip or redirection about how you implemented that?

  3. Whoops! About how you implemented the Random Quote Generator in a WordPress blog. I already know how to use basic WordPress (and Blogger).

  4. PJ, here it is: http://srinig.com/wordpress/plugins/quotes-collec

We actually tried many quote randomizers before we found one that was workable and did what we wanted it to do.

  5. Congratulations! We've won.

  6. Thank you so much for getting rid of the "Congratulations! You’ve won" ad. I understand that you need to accept ads to keep this site running, but I greatly apperciate doing away with an obtrusive and annoying ad. Keep up the great work. This basketcase greatly apperciate all of the time and effort it takes to keep this site running.

    • I was annoyed by that ad, too. It just took me a while to figure out what to do. Please keep in mind we are not IT people, we are writers with a blog. Blogs sometimes really need technical knowledge that we lack.

  7. Thanks for taking down the "Congratulation! You've won" ad.

It was getting me busted at work for sneaking a look at the Basket!

  8. Muting the speaker (or not turning them on) always worked for me…

  9. Thanks for all you do, Lipp sisters!

  10. He was kind of amusing. I would like the ability to edit my comments. Is there such a widget?

  11. Pretty much Deb did all this. But thanks, I do some things too, from time to time.

  12. Thank you, ladies!

I would throw an around-the-world dinner party in your honor, but I'm out of Heineken. :(

  13. I haven't found an edit comment plug-in yet. The problem is, if you search for "edit comment," you find dozens of ways for the blog owners to edit comments — which we can already do.

Let us know how subscribing goes and we'll (I'll) keep looking.

  14. I have the perfect dress; it wears for days. And I will try not to fall out of my chair. Because we can't keep breaking them.

  15. Thanks, Lipps!

Odd question — anyone know of a place in midtown Manhattan to watch Mad Men tonight? I am at the office and can't get the satellite TV to work.

  16. That's perfect, Roberta. This site never ceases to amaze me.

  17. Adding to the pile, but thank you so much for axing the Congratulation thing. Everything else is just gravy :)

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
