As someone also named after a bird, I can attest to the truth of Duck's situation. Coincidentally, my grandfather's nickname was Duck, too (because his last name was Duckworth), and their house was just littered with the stuff — potholders, kitchen towels, paintings, statues, throw pillows, you name it. On the other side of the family, I've got an uncle with the last name Siegel, so his family is inundated with, you betcha, seagulls. Not sure if it's better or worse when it's a pun.
My late step-father's last name had "fish" in it. There were fish. My mother's sister-in-law kept giving her fish, apparently she thought the two of them should exchange fish gifts for all eternity. My mother put her foot down.
Duck wears a tie in "Six Month Leave" with 3 ducks on it. Maybe he was trying to save face a little with Don. Or maybe he does indulge it somewhat to seem less threatening to clients.
