No word yet (of course–Mad Men is leakproof!) if we will see Darby’s Helen Bishop in Season Three, but let’s keep our fingers crosses. Her resurfacing at the end of S2 was most excellent.

Here’s hoping your birthday brings you a basket of kisses!

  1. She has what appears to be a recurring guest spot on Nathan Fillion's new (and endangered) show CASTLE, as his flaky, hyper-sexed, crazy irresponsible ex-wife. Charming.

  2. That's funny. She also played Nathan Fillion's wife in the movie "Waitress", though I don't think I would consider that character as flaky, hyper-sexed or crazy.

    • I saw Waitress but I forgot that was her. Of course, she also had a guest shot on Angel so there's the 1-degree from Fillion, what with Joss & all.

  3. She is lovely! I really like her character.

This seems unrelated, but I just have to explain: I actually didn't like Betty at all at first. She is admittedly just a victim of her trapped little rich WASP world, but she seemed at first to like it, and pride herself on being better than so many others. She's petty and conniving and shallow, a caricature of a woman. But then (this show is so amazing!) she slowly reaches up and out of this hole she's been forced to dig herself into. Part of her courage in confronting Don and telling him, "It's not that different with you gone" is due to Helen Bishop's influence. Darby is wonderful in that part as a sort of liberator. yay! Plus she's gorgeous.

I didn't realize that was her in Waitress! I will have to look for her next time I watch it.

  4. Helen Bishop is a large part of the reason why I first got into the show. Her scene with Carlton in "Marriage of Figaro", where she clearly explains that she knows that he's making a play for her, is still one of my favorites.

  5. I'd forgotten about that scene Tarzan! And the grocery store slap was just epic. I hope she returns for S3.
