Basketcase Helen alerted us to the fact that Mad Men was nominated as best “International” television show by the BAFTAs.

This is very prestigious, sort of the British Oscars, except for the television part.

  1. Good for BAFTA for recognizing The Wire, even when our own effed up Emmys didn't.

And very excited about the MM nod of course.

  2. Wonderful! I watch all these shows, and I have to say I am rooting for both Mad Men and The Wire. They are my favorite dramas of all time.

I kind of wonder why Big Love or something else is not nominated in place of Dexter. I'm a fan of the show for the soap opera and serial killer angle, but I must say that the writing and acting (mostly the acting of some of the supporting players) is not close to that of Mad Men (or The Wire). But oh well, that's just my opinion.

  3. I'm a bit surprised by the Dexter nod as well, as much as I enjoy the show, this last season didn't hold up to the first two. I don't know that I would include Big Love either, even though I'm a fan of that show too.

It's got to be either MM or The Wire.

  4. I don't get the Dexter love…I would've went with Damages instead.

  5. BAFTA is the British Film and Television Awards, thus there being two seperate ceremonies. In terms of Film it is equivalent to the Oscars and I suppose for Television the Emmy's.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
