  • Shecky’s is selling an ice bag for Betty’s headaches.
  • Fabulous, in-depth interview with Christina Hendricks in the Telegraph, accompanied by a drop-dead gorgeous photo. This is in conjunction with the start of Season 2 in the UK, February 10 at 10pm on BBC 4.
  • Basketcase Karl Obama’ed the whole cast.
  • Basketcase dimples found this adorable use of a Mad Men clip to talk about digital media in a funny way.
  • More from January Jones’s spread in Vanity Fair.
  • Not only is Mad Men up for multiple SAG Awards, Jon Hamm is a presenter.
  • A documentary on the advertising world”Art & Copy”was shown at Sundance. The suggestion in the review is that there is a Mad Men-inspired craze for advertising. Here’s another profile of the film, longer and more detailed.
  • Speaking of the craze for advertising, the Buffalo News loves the new advertising comedy Trust Me. Other reviews I’ve read were quite negative, but this particular review is not just favorable, but interesting in the way it address the depiction of advertising on television.
  • …and here’s an interview with Eric McCormack that touches on why Trust Me shouldn’t be compared with Mad Men.
  • In Atlanta, increased interest in custom-tailored men’s suits is attributed to Mad Men.
  • The Deseret News describes Revolutionary Road as Mad Men if written by Tennessee Williams. Which is funny!
  • A Forbes portrait of David Ogilvy describes him as “the real ‘Mad Man.’”
  • The Mid-Century Modernist showcases office furniture. Pete would especially love the fifth picture down.
  • A 30 Rock interview with Jon Hamm and Tina Fey. Funny. And it turns out that Hamm interviewed for the Alec Baldwin role.

FEY: He plays a divorced gentleman who lives in my building. I meet him because I start getting his mail by accident and I start opening it and making assumptions about him based on it. Then I believe the technical term for what happens is “shenanigans.”
HAMM: Also high jinks. Believe it or not, there are misunderstandings. She jumps to some conclusions, and…

  • Ask Men ranks the 99 most desirable women of 2009. January Jones comes in at #98 and Christina Hendricks at #52.

  1. I don't see your wordle but am at work and it's probably a firewall issue.

LOVE Karl's Mad Men Obamitons. Hildy looks like she's ready to kick some ass! (Probably Pete's)

  2. I'd love to see a Vanity Fair cover of the whole cast…I love their shoots and profiles.

  3. I love that retro ice bag! I have never seen that website before. I love being introduced to fun new sites. Thanks!

  4. I made this for you Lippsisters and basket cases!

  5. Wait the title of the one I did is called “Basket of kisses; What else? ‘I’ actually did very little…its the neat program on that site.
Notice that –Knows Mad Men— are the biggest words. How appropriate!

  6. Thank you for doing this all the time. Most of the reviews I have read for Trust Me have been positive. I am looking forward to the reviews and may watch it.

BTW in the back of this months Vogue, (with Blake Lively on the cover) there is a little section in the back with theater actresses showing their personal styles. Elisabeth Moss is one of them. I don’t know if this was mentioned before.

  7. Hey, I go off-grid for half a day and get linked!

BTW, that fierce Hildy is taken from Julie McNiven's site; the full photo also had a fierce looking CH. But it was difficult to find other good photos of Hildy online, and wanted to capture her take-no-guff-from-Pete attitude.

JH & TF bring the Three's Company reference. Awesome.

From the Telegraph: "Mention of the word 'icon' makes Hendricks blush."
…but Joan gets two icons from me (I made more than one of several to get a good one, but both Joans were good).

  8. Also, biome's wordle is way cool.

  9. Many years ago, I found Ogilvy's "Confessions of an Advertising Man" abridged on tape at the public library. I listened to it over and over, because Ogilvy was knowledgeable and intelligent, very interested in research (Don Draper's favorite subject — I'd love to see that German researcher again). His "Ogilvy on Advertising" is very interesting, and there's good management philosophy in parts of "Unpublished Ogilvy." My impression is that he wouldn't put up with much Mad Men-ish behavior, but that's just an impression.

  10. To the shock of nobody, Mad Men won the Producer's Guild Award for best television drama.

  11. I believe Hulu has a multi-part David Suskind interview with David Ogilvy. It was pretty interesting, except Suskind is kind of pretentious.

  12. Looks like a one parter: http://www.hulu.com/watch/46488/the-david-susskin

    Thank you hullaballoo!

  13. AHHH Mad Men is finally coming back to the UK!

    WOO-HOO!

  14. Some pics of Jon and Jan from the PGA's…

  15. There was an interview with Elisabeth Moss in the Observer on Sunday as part of the build-up to season 2 in the UK, with some lovely pictures of her. Don't think the online version has all of them, but worth a read.

Have been lending my S1 dvd out to friends, hoping to hook them before the start of S2 here.

  16. A review of the Mad Men Revue, Vegas Style. Looks like Rich Sommer, Christina Hendricks, and Julie McNiven took part in this one, as well.

  17. Long time lurker here, finally de-lurking. Love the site! Just thought I'd share this nice Janie Bryant Q&A I just read –
