  1. Creepy.

  2. Finally. Now I can …

    a) sleep at night
    b) eat carbs
    c) wear my copy of Betty's polka-dot dress around the house again.

And yes, I look fabulous in it, when I'm not falling down, 'cause the heels are too high.

  3. Heh.

C'mon, Andrew… I was just playing with a Flash app on teh Internets.

  4. (and goofing a little on the depths of our fandom, now that we're all relieved.)

  5. Creepy, yes … but a funny good creepy.

My new Facebook profile pic … thx Karl.

  6. I thought I had followed the wrong bookmarked link for a moment there! Too funny! I, too, can now concentrate on other matters.

    1. No longer reminding myself to breathe in and out ((Tom Hanks))

    2. Dedicating myself to resolving the issue in Gaza

    3. Actually working during the day, instead of expecting my employer to pay me for constantly checking this site for Weiner contract updates!

  7. YES HE DID!

Just had to say that. I'm a former Obama phonebanker who now refuses to give up on anything good. "The momentum of the good idea" is my new mantra.

Seriously. Once you've changed the way your country sees itself, where do you stop? When do you quit reaching into hats, expecting to pull out adorable rabbits?

When it stops working, I guess. Except that it doesn't.

See above: hope is a good thing. It pays off. :)

  8. Has anyone seen Revolutionary Road yet? I saw it last night and I definitely get the Mad Men comparisons and why people prefer the show. I would say Don & Betty come off much more adult than Frank and April, they seemed very childish in the way they fought and related to each other. I know people always say Betty is child-like but seriously compared to these two…and I would also relate Don more to April. The movie was fantastic though, and it made me hope that Mad Men continues to explore the domestic issues, I felt that really made season 2 pop. Betty has become just as mysterious as Don and the two of them are rather fascinating characters to watch interact alone and together.

I can also see why Kate is getting the kudos, Leo seemed too young to play Frank. It's still hard to see him playing men…I know Jon Hamm said in one of them Mad Men commentaries he got the script for it, now I would love to see him in that role. It's very different from Don, I think.

  9. JS: I haven't seen RR … from the ads and all the commentary, I've had the impression that the movie is sorta like a prelude to MM, where MM starts where RR leaves off, kinda sorta.

With that in mind, and the lack of rave reviews, I've not really rushed to see it. Shame, cuz Kate Winslet always does it for me …

  10. Actually, B. Cooper, there are quite a few respectable reviews for "Revolutionary Road". But there are even more like mine: not-quite-raves from people who had wanted to love it and could not.

If there is one reason to see it, it's probably Kate. If you can stand the thought of seeing her as the gem she is — a more mature version of that "heart of the ocean" — in an imperfect setting, the film is worth your time and money.

But otherwise, you're right. What we are seeing in Mad Men is part of a narrative arc, and Matt helps us see that. I did not notice the same touch in Revolutionary Road, and I missed that sense of time and place.

  11. That's just awesome Karl!!!

  12. Thanks, Kassy. Just a way to put something back in the Basket.

  13. Weiner on a tee-shirt, or make it a tattoo, ha.

  14. …my dream, first day rehearsals for S3 MM….

Everyone [cast/crew] is in the room except MW,

    MW walks in…

Everyone stands up, takes off their shirts to reveal underneath T-shirts with Karl's 'BACK' artwork.

  15. Heh. And soon you will be able get them put on stuff through Zazzle.

  16. To continue JohnR's dream …

MW grins, turns his back, takes off HIS shirt, and reveals he's wearing a blue shirt with a big red S on it

  17. #17 @Jules,
    :)
