I’m working on the transcription now.
First, Matt gave us the only post-Globes interview today. He did the press-room at the Globes of course, and partied all night. He is the happiest, tiredest version of Matt imaginable. So we are proud and privileged to be his only day-after interview.
Matt was exhausted, and his voice was giving out, but he was so appreciative of us. I thanked him for the shout-out of course, and here’s how he closed our talk:
Matt Weiner: I appreciate your support and the site, and I really hope to be doing this again.
Deborah Lipp: We are pulling for you.
MW: You guys have to understand that the fans are my foremost concern. When I write a script, I want the audience to like it, and I want the actors to like it, and I want my wife to like it. In that order.
DL: [laughs] Well, we want your wife to like it too.
MW: Well, not in that order. My wife’s first.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

It was quite the afterparty, apparently.
And we Basketcases know how important MW's wife is — influencing the scene in "Long Weekend" where Rachel defends her dad and the speech that Peggy ends up giving to Pete at the end of S2 jump to mind.
Congrats on the exclusive.
One of the reasons I'm pulling for Matt to get the money I think he deserves is because he genuinely appreciates his audience. I don't think I can compare him to anyone else who is as dedicated.
Looking forward to the rest of the interview and congratulations Lipp sisters on your continued success!
Perhaps I should let Lionsgate know that I purchase very few DVDs, and yet I own MM S1 and have pre-ordered S2! People love this show! If there were a Don Draper bobble-head doll, I would probably buy it.
Congratulations on getting the interview, and I look forward to reading it in it's entirety.
Don Draper bobble-head doll is almost as good as Matt Weiner's Bachelor Dwarf.
Being new to this blog, I googled "Matt Weiner's Bachelor Dwarf" and got the old "do you mean 'Matt Weiner Bachelor Dwarf'?", which added a new spin to the comments on that post.
Deep-throated voiceover: "From the creative genius behind "The Sopranos" and "Mad Men". He steps from behind the scenes and stars in his own creation. "Matt Weiner, Bachelor Dwarf"
Search this site for it, Jules. We even started a Facebook group. (Blame my sister for that.)
