Greg, what Don most dislikes in himself is Dick Whitman. Betty is exactly the opposite of that. I think that Don/Dick imagined that upscale, educated people would naturally have it more together than he did, and that's part of the shock of his situation.

There are three wrong kinds of men, true... but there's also three wrong kinds of women, too. Not surprisingly, Mad Men's got them too.

1) The devious, untrustworthy types (i.e. Jane and Bobbi Barrett) who bear a striking character resemblance to Don Draper.

2) The easily bored, almost ADD-afflicted, can't-focus-on-what's-right-in-front-of-her types (don't know if they're in Mad Men)

3) The emotionally child-like type, i.e. Betty Draper. Got to be honest ladies, the character changes she's going through right now this season have amped up her appeal considerably, because in first season, I was shaking my head in amazement how Don, also emotionally stunted, could have found himself attracted to what he most dislikes in himself.

Now, of course, the right women: mature, sassy, smart, conversational but still emotionally accessible - in other words, fully formed people like Joan and Rachel. I miss Rachel.

Peggy needs to get out more. None of the guys at work are right for her. Most of the clients of SC are going to be old for her, and I picture thier sons as variations of Pete. She's too much of a career woman to find Mr. Right at her family's church, not that she even goes to church that much anyway. Her best hope is that she keeps saying yes when Kurt invites her places. She might just meet Mr. Right at one of them. I want to see more of Kurt's social life, especially to contrast it with Sal's.

That pretty much sums up most of the women on the show, doesn't it? (picking the wrong boys)

I'm going to concede a fourth category, men who are wrong because they are just wrong. All of Anne's go there!

But my list of wrong men is more like unavailable men. Peggy is going to make such a great fag hag.

Oh come on! There are all kinds of wrong boys:

1) Serial killers, or even nice forensic-specialists-by-day, serial-killers-by-night (like Dexter)
2) Vampires, who are 300 years old and impossible to take to brunch
3) Drug-abusing rock-band boys, who, even if they SEEM nice, have far too many roadies around and are either going to (a) get some girl pregnant or (b) star in some skank parade called "Rock of Love", someday
4) Weird boys. And I don't mean good-with-math weird. I mean, like, there-are-things-I-can't-tell-you-about-Mom weird
5) Amway salesmen

... and I could go on. Peggy, we might agree, would attract them all.

I don't think any of us would enjoy watching a story line of that relationship!
"The trucker wasn’t the wrong boy, though."
Wrong for an interesting story and an ambitious young lady.

Peggy was a jerk to the trucker, but he wasn't the right guy for her because she's aspiring to a different kind of life. The question is, does her new life only contain the wrong kind of men?

I'll be optimistic and say, no. She needs someone like Ken, perhaps, but with chemistry.
