Ten of Mad Men’s sixteen Emmy nominations were in the Creative Arts categories. These are the cinematography, art direction, costumes, and so on.
Mad Men’s four wins place it second for total wins, behind HBO’s John Adams mini-series.
The four Emmys won by Mad Men are:
- Art Direction for a Single-Camera Series: “Mad Men: Smoke Gets in Your Eyes (Pilot)”
- Cinematography for a One-Hour Series: “Mad Men: Smoke Gets in Your Eyes: Pilot”
- Hairstyling for a Single-Camera Series: “Mad Men: Shoot”
- Main Title Design
The Main Title Design win is especially gratifying.
The Costume Design for a Series award went to the Tudors. Such a shame.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

Let it win next year, when Janie Bryant can get hers.
A win for prosthetic makeup would also have been nice…
Noah, great call on bringing the MM emmy wins to the attention to the BasketCases in your post on another thread!
Noah, John, I always appreciate heads up on news, but please keep in mind, I am just one person watching news feeds as fast as I can, and occasionally I leave the house, eat, sleep, and work. So if news isn’t up as promptly as you’d like, please be patient.
Naturally just giving a heads up. You guys do an amazing job with news. Is there an email address to use for news tips?
Noah, sorry this got lost in the shuffle. BasketofKisses@lippsisters.com, or deborah@lippsisters.com.
Sorry the costumes for MM lost out to The Tudors — I admire the clothes for MM much more. I am constantly amazed at how accurate they are and how they reflect the characters.
I like the Tudors, and enjoy the costumes, but they’re not at all period correct. The choices made have more to do with being on pay cable and wanting T&A — mostly T.
