We are promised more revelations tonight and I can’t wait!
But I may have to. Roberta and I are out at a great party, and may not be home until after ten. Thank the Gods for Tifaux.

I’m home. Seatbelt’s on.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:23 pm
Ellelque checking in.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Hope none of our peeps on here are from Nola.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:29 pm
I am watching rerun. Joan looks so huge at times. They shouldn’t tape her from the side. I mean I am all for us big girls accepting our bods. But I would never let anyone photo me from the side waist up only. Only from long shots or front shots does she look even.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:29 pm
I think they pad Joan’s (Cristine’s) hips.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:31 pm
So I think they are gonna give Peggy a makeover tonight. Preview on commerical shows Joan telling her that she needs to stop dressing like a little girl.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:31 pm
I think they’re padding Joan. It would add to the story line that even with her engagement, she has doubts about it and is eating to cope.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:32 pm
Talking to myself, yea heh a heh.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Maybe Paul revealing her age made her work harder to get married.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:33 pm
#9 Ellelque, good call! That makes sense.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:34 pm
I work with a Dr. Jason Rothschild, cute but kinda full of himself. Any relations to any Nephro MD in Florida?
August 31st, 2008 at 9:35 pm
This commercial with the poor dogs makes me wat to cry (has arms of an angel song)
August 31st, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Not that I know of, I’m from Paris.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Hola!
August 31st, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Bonjour Monsieur Rothschild
August 31st, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Bonjour Monsieur Rothschild! Aloha Kay!
August 31st, 2008 at 9:44 pm
So tonite’s show is TV-MA! Hmmm….Must be the S&M that bumped up the rating! Good! Ain’t nothin’ like Don and some rope! LMAO!
August 31st, 2008 at 9:45 pm
J’attends avec intérêt des fous ! Que diriez-vous de de vous ? Êtes-vous magnifique comme Don, M. Rothschild ?
August 31st, 2008 at 9:45 pm
I’m in San Francisco, so please spoil away! I hate that I can’t see the show at the same time the live blogging BasketCases do.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Remember, Don ties up Bobbie. Ooh Lah Lah!
August 31st, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Elle, speak Spanish so a sista can know of which you speak! Ha!
August 31st, 2008 at 9:48 pm
We shall give the lurid, sexy details. Shall I give play by play pf the sex? Personally I think I am very invested in figuring out who Pete is telling to turn around. I predict Peggy! Anyone? Anyone?
August 31st, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Thinking of Pete in any sexual way disturbs me to no end! He ain’t sexy to me! I’ll scream if Pete rides someone tonite!
August 31st, 2008 at 9:50 pm
Ellelque, no I’m not like Don. I detest him because he lies, is self-centered and controlling.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:54 pm
I noticed a lot of guys either flove Don because he’s the alpha dog regnant. Or hate Don because he’s a cheater, liar, etc.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Kay, pregunté a Sr. Rothschild si él era caliente como Don
August 31st, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Hey folks! Nice to see you. I am going out of the country on vacation tomorrow so I am running around packing, etc. Won’t be able to join the fun tonight, and will still be away next Sunday night. But I look forward to chiming in when I return. Have a great week and be well, all!
August 31st, 2008 at 9:56 pm
I really like Don’s voice. He can do a sexy growl.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Oh, and TV-MA, eh? I’m intrigued!!! Maybe Betty will finally get her whip on…
August 31st, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Have a great holiday Laura!
August 31st, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Thanks, Ellelque! Do they have Mad Men in Ireland, I wonder….maybe I will get to see next week’s episode…
August 31st, 2008 at 9:58 pm
I’m on, too, but only during commercials. I ain’t smart enough to post and concentrate on the show at the same time.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:59 pm
I am sitting in the lazyboy with a laptop in my lap.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:59 pm
@Laura…Have a safe trip!
@Elle…Don’s voice is ridiculously sexy!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Thx, Kay! Have a good week!

August 31st, 2008 at 10:02 pm
#32 - me too!
and i agree with the comment about Joans age ousting - is she making up the engagement???????
and im loving the use of the Decemberist song in the intro……
August 31st, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Made it in the nick of time, with my don on the Beach!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Don Draper gives good (back of the) head! Hee!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Whoa, Peggy’s wearing pantyhose, not stockings!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Oh god, Joyce is even worse than Lois…
August 31st, 2008 at 10:04 pm
I want Peggy to stop with the bangs! Please, Matt Weiner! Allow this woman to get a new ‘do!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:04 pm
When the hell were pantyhose introduced?
August 31st, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Baywatch!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:04 pm
He shows more affection to the dog!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Rumsen smells like pussy! uH oH!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:05 pm
oooooooooooohhhhh, the little jab about duck not being good in the afternoon - and he’s divorced
August 31st, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Golf pants suck!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Problem with Peggy is that even when you dress her up, she has that little girl voice.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:07 pm
I think I would have been more impressed with the getting-dressed-intro if they hadn’t used it in the season opener - seems a bit tawdry to use it twice…
August 31st, 2008 at 10:08 pm
I want to see Don’s legs.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:08 pm
Don es muy alto….
I hate the stable guy! He’s soooo geeky!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:09 pm
That guy (Arthur) is not sexy! He is so wimpy looking!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:09 pm
but she loves the attention even if he is geeky
August 31st, 2008 at 10:09 pm
What a cockblock, kids!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Didn’t she go to Bryn Mawr? When my sister went there, the saying was more “Lezbe friends”…
August 31st, 2008 at 10:10 pm
There are some sexy men in Hollywood! I’m sure they’d like to work on MM! I guess Don can’t have any competition! Ha!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:11 pm
I love a man in uniform. This must be Memorial day. Poor Don, he looks so troubled.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:11 pm
don seems so uncomfortable - “please heroes, on your feet”
August 31st, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Pete really needs to hit a Gym, such skinny arms.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:13 pm
well - miamipapi just woke up
he likes a good watussi…..que perro..hahahahaha
August 31st, 2008 at 10:13 pm
Well, SAB is in full foem. But I can’t say I blame her. Jeez, Don got depressed so he feels he has to go fall on Bobbie. OOOh, Bobbie is a MILF!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Bikinis in a swimwear fashion show and a mention of the Watusi! So very Beach Party.
Bobbie has a son?!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Bobbie again? It’s Episode 6, isn’t it about time for Don to get a new mistress? *yawn*
August 31st, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Don’s such a fabulous ‘ho!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:14 pm
He is so disgusted, but drawn to her. Very Sick
August 31st, 2008 at 10:15 pm
Great Product placement - Ritz crackers and Utz
August 31st, 2008 at 10:15 pm
Pete looks like a grown man in suits.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:16 pm
“You saved me fifty cents.” Wow.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Pete and Peggy convo - very odd. Pete is gonna hit on her again! I just know it! Any bets?
August 31st, 2008 at 10:17 pm
i love how she brushes him off….
August 31st, 2008 at 10:17 pm
As much I like Bobbi for helping Don get back his mojo, hopefully Don gets a classier mistress later this season….
August 31st, 2008 at 10:17 pm
OK, he goes to her apartment and tries to start something. I just bet it! But is she gonna fall for it again?
August 31st, 2008 at 10:19 pm
Peggy really does bring something to the team. You can see her mind work with ideas. Funny Pete and Pegs are probably a great creative team. Total Irony.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:19 pm
Peggy is such a dumbass! She’ll prolly be more than happy to have punk bitch Pete ride her again! That dude bugs!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:20 pm
My favorite line so far: “The right man for the job.” And I think he meant it as a genuine compliment.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Agreed, Kay - Bobbie is just so transparent, there’s nothing intriguing watching them mess about.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:20 pm
why the change in attitude from pete?
August 31st, 2008 at 10:20 pm
I want them to have Peggy wear her hair down. Maybe a soft angora sweater and tight skirt. She has nice legs. I mean that in a totally heterosexual, secure in my femininity way of course.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Duck seems to be more thrilled to see Chauncey over his kids.
Don was so uncomfortable about standing and then looking into the eyes of Sally, who was looking at her daddy with such pride really clutched at my old heart. I tell ya, they have got to keep this show on long enough for us to see Sally as a teen. That little girl is very good in her role. Somehow, I don’t think Don needs to worry about Arthur. First of all, he’s no Don Draper and second, he couldn’t leave fast enough when Sally and Bobby ran up to Betty. Oops, show’s on.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Chick looks like a lobster!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Roger truly has the best lines.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:21 pm
“Has your wife seen that yet? Let me be there when it happens.” Roger, gross as ever.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:23 pm
You can see why Don promoted Peggy, or maybe she’s learned from him. She understands how advertising works. “It tells a story.”
August 31st, 2008 at 10:23 pm
Poor Chauncey!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Maybe next time Don gets drunk at one of his kids B-Day party, He can adopt Chauncy to take home.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:24 pm
And the ogling begins…
August 31st, 2008 at 10:25 pm
Damn Don makes smoking look…..
August 31st, 2008 at 10:26 pm
Excellent Marilyn is a Joan comment. I guess Marilyn is still alive. That would put a crimp on their campaign.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:26 pm
irene dunn
August 31st, 2008 at 10:26 pm
“Irene Dunn”?! Ouch - at least she has Rummy’s seal of approval.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:27 pm
Please let Peggy become a Jackie. She looks so 50’s!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Who’s Irene Dunn?
August 31st, 2008 at 10:28 pm
“Gertrude Stein.” Ken is such a tool.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:29 pm

August 31st, 2008 at 10:29 pm
I want to see Peggy as Marilyn.
Duck’s floundering.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:29 pm
Who’s Irene Dunn?

August 31st, 2008 at 10:29 pm
OMG I want to be Bobbie rghtn Now!!!!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:30 pm
Satin sheets. Don is a Knight in White Satin! How many kids has this woman spawned?
August 31st, 2008 at 10:30 pm
she has a daughter old enough to be in Sarah lawrence?
August 31st, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Bobbie is a cold calculating Cougar MILF. She is not going to take the end of this relationship very well.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:32 pm
That’s the Don I flove!
Obama knuckle-bump to all the Basketcases!
Kay loves her some slutty Don!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:32 pm
I can see shades of boiling bunnies in the future.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:33 pm
Pete is so short!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:34 pm
Pete wants a new office dog? Wow, Peggy’s losing all her former recognitions…
August 31st, 2008 at 10:34 pm
Kay, wait till you hear the new gossip about McCain’s sexy librarian. Baby is really grandbaby! More news later.
Back to show.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:34 pm
OH, I was wrong. We’ve found Pete’s new Pet.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Elle! What?!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:35 pm
I think I just saw this girl on the elevator in The House Bunny as the evil sorority girl. Colin Hanks is in that, too.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Trudy is a Jackie, sexy model is a Marilyn.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:36 pm
well - doesn’t look like we’re getting any answers or revelations…..
August 31st, 2008 at 10:37 pm
I hope Don doesn’t get an STD!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Trust me Kay, all will be revealed soon. Stay close to news this week. But if it’s true will really make this campaign much more interesting.
I don’t want to pollute the board with politics, will anger the lovely Lipps.
I kinda wanted Peggy to tell Pete to get lost when he showed up at her place.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Poor Peggy. Freddy still treats her like one of the secretaries—popping her on the behind with his clipboard. About the pantyhose thing…I thought it was a little later when pantyhose started but maybe not. I DO remember that early pantyhose were terrible. They bagged and didn’t stay up well at all. The panty part was just a darker shade of the hose, maybe a little thicker, but not much. Pantyhose didn’t get better until sometime in the 70’s.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:39 pm
My eyes! My eyes!
Pete is the unsexiest mofo!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:40 pm
That is a big girl for Pete. Gonna climb that blonde mountain. Such symbolism! With the tv scene.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:41 pm
ugh….i cant with pete
August 31st, 2008 at 10:41 pm
So Pete went after Peggy first and when she wasn’t interested he picked up the chick on the elevator.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:41 pm
@Elle! Thanks for the info! Agree we’ll leave politics out!
Pete’s just ugh! Hope he washed his butt before coming home!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Hot Mamma, SAB Looks Hot!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:41 pm
I guess a T-Back is out of the question.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:42 pm
Hot tea?! Maybe Joan is packing on the pounds…
August 31st, 2008 at 10:43 pm
SAB’s bikini was cute! But I’d rather see Don in swimming clothes…or less!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Yes! Excellent Joan! As usual right on target.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:44 pm
sab?
August 31st, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Damn, that harlequin pitch is great!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:45 pm
SAB=a nickname for Don’s wife….LOL!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:45 pm
In a few months they’re going to be glad this Jackie/Marilyn ad didn’t work out.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:45 pm
um ok - random nickname
August 31st, 2008 at 10:46 pm
I think Peggy is gonna party tonight. Grown girl is gonna show up and wow!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:46 pm
stupid a$$ you get the rest, right?
August 31st, 2008 at 10:46 pm
When did Twiggy get famous? They’ll pitch a fit at her thin frame!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:46 pm
I know SAB, but what is MILF? While your giving a vocab lesson…
August 31st, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Hi Guys –
Dealing with some family stuff, so stuck in a hotel with only the most basic of cable.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:47 pm
@guest: There’s a background for why Kay uses this nickname for Betty, check out the discussion from previous episodes.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Sorry, Ms. Darkly. I hope the family stuff works out. I need your insight.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Maybe Peggy will dance for tips!?
August 31st, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Your right, when Marilyn dies it will be a bomb for the campaign. I love this “Tempted” song. take me back.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:48 pm
SAB is an unflattering nickname for Betty; the last two letters are a bit vulgar.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:48 pm
MILF = Mom I’d Like to F***, came from the teenage boys in “American Pie” (the movie not the song)
August 31st, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Ms. Golightly,
MILF = Mom I’d Like…
August 31st, 2008 at 10:49 pm
MILF - Mother I’d love to F___
Kay, kindly tell them what SAB is.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:49 pm
When did Twiggy get famous? They’ll pitch a fit at her thin frame!
That’s not until 1967, I think.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:50 pm
I have seen people cuss on here, so yes, you can say Fuck. I think. Also MILF Island, on 30 Rock.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:51 pm
True, Arabella. Much less in a couple of years. The ad was very clever though. Betty’s bikini was pretty risque for 1962 but she looked terrific in it.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Y’all wanted to know what SAB means!?
“Self-Absorbed Bitch” or “Stupid-Ass Bitch!”
You asked, Guest!
And I have no tact!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Duck needs some Cold Duck.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Oh, is Duck an alcoholic?
August 31st, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Come on Duck, hit a meeting.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Aw, no Duck, don’t do it… think of the dog! Think of Chauncy!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:51 pm
chauncey! how horible
August 31st, 2008 at 10:52 pm
OMG!!!! That man is satan! That poor dog!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Don! Take it off! Take it off!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:52 pm
how could he do that?!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Yep, Twiggy was either ‘66 or ‘67. I loved her and made a scrapbook with her pix back then.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Don don’t know if he want to fuck her or punch her. Anyone think he is taking anger out on her.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:52 pm
wow- that is a pretty hostile nickname for a character on a tv show
August 31st, 2008 at 10:53 pm
Kudos to whoever predicted bondage!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:54 pm
Don’s got a rep.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:55 pm
LOLOLOLOLOLO He is jilting her!!!! Tied up!!!!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:55 pm
He slept with some chick at Random House?
August 31st, 2008 at 10:55 pm
miami mami and papi are hoping he leaves her there
August 31st, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Leaving her tied up is not going to help that “reputation” any, Don!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:55 pm
HAHAHA
August 31st, 2008 at 10:55 pm
MILF is actually a compliment in some circles.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Peggy’s dress is cute!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:56 pm
ay que linda! and look at her hair
August 31st, 2008 at 10:56 pm
They needed Dita Von Teese for that!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:56 pm
The look on Peggy’s face!
E Moss is fantastic.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Boy hanging at the Strip bar with the boys. That is growing some balls. Pete has got to stop messing with her MOJO!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:57 pm
I see Don’s Legs!!! Excellenta!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:57 pm
yes they did
i just saw the vroom exhibit and they had a beautiful portrait of Dita
August 31st, 2008 at 10:58 pm
The Sally actress really looks like Emma Watson from Harry Potter.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:58 pm
When I was a little girl, used to watch my daddy shave too!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:58 pm
Don just cannot be happy. He is feeling pretty disgusted right now.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Don’s got faboo legs! Nice calves!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:59 pm
so no questions answered… who said that they would be
August 31st, 2008 at 11:00 pm
W.
T.
T.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:00 pm
OK, could it get anymore strange than that ending? Damn that Matt knows how to make you drool for the next episode.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Jimmy Barrett calling up Betty? I bet it’s going to be “revenge” on behalf of Bobbie.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:01 pm
I’m not sure what we got answered, other than Don’s has a “name” for being a man-whore! And screwed some chick from Random House….
August 31st, 2008 at 11:01 pm
O.K., who the hell was Bobbie talking about? Did we know about them before?
August 31st, 2008 at 11:01 pm
what does wtt mean
August 31st, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Obviously Peggy decided she was a Marilyn.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Wonder if Pete spawned another little Pete on Hot Blonde’s couch.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:03 pm
Did Don send the poetry in season premiere to the woman from Random House?
August 31st, 2008 at 11:03 pm
Arghh! Great show but the ending killed me. Was that the same sound effect they used when Don was at the house by himself drinking milk out of the bottle. Both times I thought it was going to be a flashback scene but of course, it wasn’t. Do you think Sally saying she wasn’t going to talk is what did it for him in the bathroom, brought back about him not wanting Bobbie to say a word?
Peggy looked adorable in that dress and her hair was much better. She looked more her age and not like a teenager, a young teenager. Pete doesn’t like it when Peggy shows even a hint of sexiness, does he?
I’m going to the AMC site and see a longer look at next week’s episode.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:03 pm
Tonight’s episode featured both Don and Pete acting in distinctly controlling ways toward women, expecting them to be a certain way and acting quite resentful when they tried to break out of the male-dictated mold. It definitely fits in with the “Maidenform” campaign, with both men and merchandise that conform women to attain certain expectations.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:03 pm
The ending with the mirror shot is the light/dark theme from the ad.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:04 pm
I thought Don only had 3 mistresses, Midge, Bobbi and Rachel! This new lady from the publishing place was just mentioned tonight….
Still, good to know he’s a always been slutty!
August 31st, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Sally brought home the threat Don didn’t know was out there: “I’m not going to talk; I wouldn’t want you to cut yourself.“
August 31st, 2008 at 11:05 pm
But the big mystery about next week. What is with Don’s secretary.
Also, why am I concerned about the dog. It’s just fiction. I now hate Duck with the heat of a thousand suns. I didn’t like him when he was married to Mary Alice either.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:06 pm
im the sucker that’s still horrified chauncey was abandoned
very interesting though
just when he was about to go for the bottle, the dog (and symbolizism the dog holds) prevented him, and then he became so angry he abandoned the dog……
a parallel to what happened to his family life…..
this episode was revealing about Duck
August 31st, 2008 at 11:07 pm
Was the new secretary in this ep?
August 31st, 2008 at 11:07 pm
Oops, I know why Joan is mad at uh…new secretary in next week’s episode. Somebody please remind me of her name. LOL!
August 31st, 2008 at 11:07 pm
Excellent observation Karl.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:07 pm
yes, she was the sunburned one
August 31st, 2008 at 11:08 pm
I got the light/dark thing with Don, just not real sure why he looked so sick unless it’s the guilt and him worrying that his philandering is going to back to Betty.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:09 pm
karl, i picked up on the same thing which leads back to the flashback scene in the hospital with peggy
August 31st, 2008 at 11:09 pm
Duck went back to kill himself either slowly with the bottle or quickly another way…good!
August 31st, 2008 at 11:09 pm
I know this is a spoiler free site but do you want me to tell what the sneak peek at AMC showed about Joan and Don’s secretary?
August 31st, 2008 at 11:09 pm
Jan do tell
August 31st, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Yes!!!
August 31st, 2008 at 11:10 pm
yes, because we will all probably watch the preview.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:11 pm
Who let the dogs out? Duck! LMAO!
*Yeah, it’s corny! Just laugh!*
August 31st, 2008 at 11:12 pm
You notice Don keeps becoming upset when he sees himself in his daughter’s eyes.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:12 pm
So Karl and Mami, y’all think Don tried to commit suicide at one point? Is that the threat?
August 31st, 2008 at 11:14 pm
Elleque, that is an excellent observation about Don becoming upset when looking into Sally’s eyes! He does adore his little girl and the thought of disappointing her is too much for him to bare.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Kitty Romano is so cute.
Also, I’ve seen Peyton List in a couple of things and I like her, so I hope I like Jane.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Kay, do you think maybe Don tried to commit suicide and this lady at Random House might know about it? As tormented as Don is, that certainly wouldn’t be a stretch, would it?
August 31st, 2008 at 11:16 pm
when i watched the flashback scene and saw the way don reacted to peggy and what he said - there seemed to be an incredible empathy and understanding to what she had gone through and the need to completely forget about it
since dr/patient confidentiality was not what it is today, he knew what ward she was in
im not going to go as far as say that he tried to commit suicide, but remember his brother did - there is something in that comment that made him pale and sick to his stomach
also he becoming increasingly more and more guilt-ridden about the events of the war and the dick/don switch up
especially during memorial day
August 31st, 2008 at 11:16 pm
Is it rally Don who is trying to be the “Jackie” at home and “Marilyn” at the office? Peggy made herself over, but it’s clear she’s not comfortable in the sexy role the way Don has been for years.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:18 pm
wtt = wtf, except from the fingers of someone ridiculously tired.
how embarasking.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:18 pm
@Jan….I’m not sure! I was thinking the Random House lady was another one of Don’s side pieces, and she blabbed about Don’s prowess in bed!
Gentlemen…Ladies do talk!
August 31st, 2008 at 11:18 pm
I think Duck went back to his office to kill himself, and that’s why he let the dog go.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:19 pm
LOL! Kay, you are hysterical! I love your candor. I think you need to head over AMC sometime and look at the pictures from tonight’s show. There are some of Don with Bobbie that I think you might like. (wink, wink)
August 31st, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Honestly, I thought that when Duck left the dog outside it was because he was going to kill himself and he was letting the dog go. Any takers on this theory? He seems pretty lost.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Just checked out the Inside video, explains the whole show tonight.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:21 pm
Just something I noticed in the the Draper’s kitchen—the bag of Utz on top of the fridge.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:21 pm
spill it ellelque
August 31st, 2008 at 11:22 pm
About Duck- I posted that theory earlier…so I agree.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Brett.
Holy crap. That’s amazing.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Apparently, Don thinks that his daughter will be able to see through him and what a horrible person he thinks he is. That is why be turned away.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:23 pm
like i said earlier, this episode was revealing for duck
August 31st, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Ms. Golightly… sorry; I have many comments to read tomorrow.
And miamimami, ellelque knows our spoiler policy. Check it out in our ‘about’ section, and when in doubt, leave it out.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:24 pm
especially since duck’s children dropped the bomb about the mothers pending marriage. and then sticking him chauncey - that was the lingering reminder of duck in their house -out with the old in with the new
poor chauncey
August 31st, 2008 at 11:25 pm
@Jan…I have no tact when it comes to Mad Men!
I wonder if the Random House woman is the recipient of the book Don mailed. I’ll bet she’s a beautiful, brainy brunette if she’s ever shown!
August 31st, 2008 at 11:26 pm
I really enjoyed tonight’s episode “Maidenform.” This was another great episode!! I have to say that some of my favorite scenes included the very cool opening sequence with January, Christina, and Elisabeth (all three of them looking very beautiful as always), the Maidenform/Clearasil account meeting, Pete and the model, and the scenes with Duck’s family. You could tell that his kids were really feeling kind of bad for Duck knowing this his ex-wife is remarrying. I also loved the scenes with Chauncey and that little moment between Chauncey, Pete & Duck. That was a great scene. But there was the scene at the end where Duck was feeling upset and felt compelled to drink, that he took Chauncey out and left him outside while he went back to the office. I felt so bad seeing that particular scene that it brought me close to tears.
I definitely enjoyed Elisabeth Moss in this episode. Especially for Peggy since she wants to be one of the guys in the after-hour meetings. I really thought Elisabeth was so fantastic in this episode. She is definitely a fantastic actress! I loved the final scene where Peggy came walking in the club, looking absolutely beautiful and very sexy, and joining the guys. What I really enjoyed the most about that scene was the look between Peggy and Pete. I honestly think that they both still have intimate feelings for each other. I can’t wait to see what is in store for the future episodes to come. I do have to say that Jon Hamm & Melinda McGraw were as fantastic as ever in tonight’s episode. They both give their characters alot of emotion and drama.
All in all, it was another fantastic episode of Mad Men. I can’t for Episode 7, after seeing the 30 second preview, I am already excited!
August 31st, 2008 at 11:27 pm
Hey guys, I’m out of town, but wanted to check in.
I was thinking Duck was going to go commit suicide and that’s why he let the dog go, but they didn’t show us anything.
Go, Peggy! Be a woman, indeed! I don’t know, I guess the SC guys will protect her from the clients going too far? The look exchanged with Pete was interesting. Was he jealous? Disliking her when she’s not innocent and naive? She gets left out of meetings, but yet gets all the client’s attention in a different way.
Don was smokin’ hot tonight. Interesting that Bobbie’s with him for his rep, not just business.
Betty was also hot in the bikini and Mr. Possessive comes out. I’m wondering if she’ll become Mrs. Robinson to a 15 year old life guard? I can see it being less threatening for her than maybe having an affair with a grown man.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:27 pm
Hey Brett you scooped me! We must have been writing at the same time! (although I see that Golightly suggested it a little earlier but I didn’t see that.) I am sticking with my theory although my husband says I’m completely wrong.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:29 pm
I’m spent, long day and very excellent episode have tired these old bones out. Will discuss more tomorrow. I hope it was good for you too. Don’t smoke or I would light a ciggy in Don style.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:30 pm
Bye Ellelque. I think I’m heading out, too. I hope everyone has a terrific week. Chat with you next Sunday.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:31 pm
im not dismissing the duck theory put forth
thats not what occurred to me though - i just thought the dog was like a conscious. the dog reminds him of his former life with his family - which apparently his drinking problem ruined - so he got rid of the guilt.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:33 pm
Good night! Roberta you are forgiven : ) And carocat and Brett we are brilliant! Unless we’re wrong. Then we’re just smart.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:35 pm
Later Peeps! I’ll stay on for a few more minutes!
August 31st, 2008 at 11:40 pm
this pregnant lady stayed up past her bedtime! good night all it was fun
roberta - sorry, i didnt know about the spoilers policy
August 31st, 2008 at 11:44 pm
I think I’ve figured out just why Don hates Bobbie, especially when she talks. More than once she said “you’re just like me,” and when she did you could see him begin to stew. He hates the idea of being crude and low-class i.e. Dick Whitman. When he’s confronted with that he can’t take it, it attacks his whole carefully constructed identity.
Interesting how Peggy (who is Don’s reflection) is struggling with navigating the same thing. To progress in her new identity she has to access her sexual self, which she wants to reject (with some good reason i.e.her pregnancy). She’s managing it more consciously, but that doesn’t mean it will end any better.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:48 pm
I liked this episode, but not as much as last weeks.
Don thinks of Bobbie differently, now that he knows she has two children, even though they are grown. I thought the bondage thing was a little disturbing. I’d never seen that side of Don before, and I’m not sure I want to see it again.
I liked Peggy’s clearsil ad idea-I thought her line about, “It’s two kids who used to have a problem” very significant.
Peggy wants to be one of the boys, and taken seriously, but they don’t know how to treat her. I thought Joan’s comment was very telling- “You’re in thier country now.” It’s a different world than what Joan is used to, but she did provide some good advice, and Peggy listened. Based on the preview for the next episode, it looks like she starts to dress in a more sophisticated manner.
I thought Pete was acting more like Don when he had the affair with the blonde model, and that Don was acting more like Pete with the bondage.
I hated what Duck did to Chauncy. It was a cheap way to hurt his kids.
I thought the bikinis at the fashion show were far to skimpy to be 1962. Maybe 1964-1966, but not 62.
As usual, I can’t wait to see what happens next week
August 31st, 2008 at 11:57 pm
I’m still reeling that Don JUST found out that he’s known for being a ‘ho! Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! LOL! I guessed the dude had 12 inches of “personality!”
August 31st, 2008 at 11:57 pm
The girl that trysted with Pete seems familiar, maybe from The Real World, did anyone else recognize her?
September 1st, 2008 at 12:10 am
Has everyone gone to bed already? On the only Sunday night where we don’t have to get up tomorrow morning?
September 1st, 2008 at 12:12 am
We are serious about the rules, guys. I deleted the spoilers, and references to them. If people want to watch the sneak peek, we link to AMC on the left.
September 1st, 2008 at 12:22 am
It was a fascinating and amazing episode. SO MUCH happened.
Karl, I thought the very same thing. “Cut yourself” and Don goes dark. Way dark. Also “I’m not going to talk.” I posted last week that I thought Don had been institutionalized, that his connection to Peggy was direct and powerful.
But I DIDN’T think that Duck was going to kill himself. Holy shit, what a thought. I guess I didn’t see the visual clearly; I thought he was putting Chauncey in another room, I didn’t realize he was being put outside. That’s disturbing.
But committing suicide? Or simply going back to the drink, the slow suicide, without the watchful eyes of someone he truly loves? Dogs are better than wives, no communication problems. He believes Chauncey understands him, and that’s unbearable.
Parallel to Don believing Sally understands him, and finding it unbearable.
I could kind of give a shit about Duck, we have been given no reason to care about him. But I ache for Don.
And Basketcases, for the record, I find “MILF” offensive, not because it’s vulgar, but because I think it’s sexist. But I’m not banning its use. I’d like to stay as free with our language here as possible.
Please, new Basketcases, read About for our policies.
September 1st, 2008 at 12:34 am
And where the hell do we begin with Don? For some dumb reason I thought this man had only a few women on the side. Then realized IRL, none of the man-hoes I know only have 1 or 2 long-term mistresses. They’re promiscuous as hell! Don’s such a slut!
Wonder if we’ll ever see this woman from Random House?
September 1st, 2008 at 12:37 am
@Suz….Yeah, Pete doesn’t possess the innate sexiness to be a believable man-whore! He’s one of those dudes who has to have money and power to get women to sleep with them because he’s short, with a screechy voice and no sex appeal, to me!
September 1st, 2008 at 12:39 am
One of the things that struck me from this excellent episode was again how broken the Don - Betty relationship is. And how wonderful a job Matt Weiner & January Jones are doing with this character this Season. In this episode alone, she exhibits obvious attraction to Arthur, admiration for Don (the Veteran stand-up), her desire to be sexually attractive to Don by exhibiting her sexy bikini first thing to him, her subservience to Don in agreeing not to wear the bikini, and then the short interlude at the end before breakfast where she barely acknowledges his presence. As I said in another post, I believe Betty will soon explode - or implode… Can’t wait as a viewer…
September 1st, 2008 at 12:39 am
I think tonight’s episode was all about double standards. But I guess a lot of the show is that way! Don can’t stay for the bikini show, or see his wife in a bikini, but he can happily go and make out with Bobbie. Pete can’t take Peggy looking like a woman, or being with the guys, but he can happily make out with the model who’s name he doesn’t even know. And poor Duck can’t drink in front of the dog! Personally, I didn’t think he dumped the dog, I thought he just let it outside and figured it would hang around until he left to go home, some dogs will do that. I did worry it was going to get hit by a car or something, but nothing happened. I figured he just wanted to have a little snort without those pleading eyes staring at him.
I have a feeling Bobbie is going to get very difficult, now that Don, to all appearances, has dumped her. He never really liked her, in the way that he liked Rachel or Midge. She chased after him and sort of acted like a man, or like the men of Don’s world act, I think he found it sort of sickly fascinating. But he may have gotten in over his head here, because I think she isn’t the kind of person who will let herself be dumped. She could make his life terribly difficult!
What was the song at the beginning of the show? It did not sound like 1962!
The last scene is a real enigma, so many possibilities. Don looked like he was having a flashback. Or maybe just felt guilty because his little girl was repeating almost the same words he said to Bobbie. I had never thought of suicide with the razor and the cutting, but those
