Lipp Gloss week of August 25, 2008

August 29, 2008 By: Roberta Lipp Category: Lipp Sisters/Basket, Media-Web-News

Collection Basket–BoK posts this week

  • Wow. Episode 2:05, The New Girl, kicked some serious ass. I’m still reeling. And Basketcases can’t stop talking about it. (The thread is still going, at nearly 400 comments.)
  • MarlyK wrote a wonderful piece on Dick/Don making the ultimate sacrifice.
  • hullaballoo takes a fascinatingly detailed and specific dig into just who knows what about Don/Dick
  • Deb takes an interesting look at why Don likes Peggy
  • Rich Sommer might be the cutest man. ever. (Addendum: check the comments… he answers the ponytail question.)
  • Still news a’plenty. With a side of fugs.

Kisses on the Lipps

  • Whitney Matheson of Pop Candy give us some big smoochies this week! Thanks to unique Basketcase Paige for leaving Whitney the fab comment-turned-quote, which includes a mention of this very feature; Lipp Gloss!
  • Joe Bua, my dear blogging friend who I’ve yet to meet (see next section), devotes an entire post to vote solicitation for my Pete Campbell audition video. Kisses by the basket, Joe!
  • Tiffany Monhollon at a blog called Personal PR takes an in-depth look at the Mad Men Twitter thing that’s been going on, and links to BoK in the process
  • Fans are empowered by technology, and your brand can benefit from broad-reaching exposure.

  • A blog called The Trash Can Age says, of the Basket, “(an) … in-depth, nerd-induced analysis for people who can’t stop rolling the show over in their minds.” Can’t argue.
  • This week’s Mad Men and the City over at Urbanite, in addition to its regular (new) weekly roundup of New York references from the most recent episode, links to the Lipps as a “Must-See Mad Men blog”

Back in the Kitchen where the Sausage is Made

  • Our ‘About’ section continues to advance… the Biographies are finally complete, with the addition of hullaballoo’s. The comments and spoiler policies get a little more specific. We still haven’t firmed up the Clooney by-laws, but once we do…
  • So yeah. Hella couple weeks. Last week Deb and I were supposed to have dinner with Joe Bua, a wonderful and dedicated blogger who threw us one serious bone earlier this year; he was flying in from LA for a reunion, and we were on the docket. Only he got sick as a dog. Which was okay because at the same, I was sick as a dog. Sucks!
  • And uh… Deb packed up my nephew and dropped his ass at college. Which is kind of a big deal. Be nice to Deborah; her next is empty (YES!!!) and it’s still a two more days ’til Maidenform.

I mean, uh… it’s the new languaging of it. Like ‘womyn’. Empty Next syndrome… it’s not about what you’ve lost, but about what’s coming.
