I have one of AMC’s s2 promo shots as my wallpaper. For a while now, something has been odd about Peggy’s dress. I was just looking at it, and I realized what it is: It’s a summer dress. A frock. Peggy would never wear that to the office. And if we’re seeing that, it means we see Peggy away from the office.
So, cool.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

I have that one as my wallpaper, too. I think it's such a beautiful picture of the cast, even though nobody is smiling. Secrets? I think so.
I dunno, the dress looks sort of fancy to me. Definitely not office wear, but possibly for an informal cocktail party of some kind, rather than a home life thing. But that could also just be because of the glossi-ness of the shot. If it is casual, I hope she wears it to the 4th of July party and we get to meet Mitch's hot wife.
I agree, the dress doesn't look like proper office atire, but neither does that white sweater and tight shorts that we see Pete wearing in another photo from season 2. My guess is that there's some kind of office emergency, and everyone is called in on a weekend.
However, I would love to see more of Peggy's life outside of the office. Maybe she wears it on another date!
Oooh, good guessing!

SPOILER:
This made me think of that airplane crash that's supposed to be worked into the story, but it took place on March 1, 1962 which was a Thursday.
Jackie, thank you for noticing my 3/1/62 airplane reference!
Is anyone else scuzzed out that the senior partner(guy sitting down) has NO shoes on and is playing footsy with Joan??!!!
I'm glad Peggy has better clothes on but honestly, it's 1962 – get a beehive or bouffant 'do!
Bert Cooper never wears shoes, it's a "thing." And I don't think he plays footsie; he seems the only chaste sort at SC.
The conversation about Peggy's lack of bouffant happened somewhere in comments and was lengthy and agreed with you.
I've seen pix of my mom in a dress like that. It's not an office dress, to be sure, the ladies would be doing those Jackie Kennedy sheath dresses or boxy suits.
Who is the guy with the beard, am I forgetting someone from last season?
It's Paul Kinsey (played by Michael Gladis). He didn't have the beard last season.
Cooper may not be entirely innocent. He has a print of Hokusai's "Dream of the Fisherman's Wife" hanging in his office:

Certainly just part of his japonisme deal, but that is a pretty hot thing to have in your office.
Wow!
Nice catch.
I disagree with DB about Peggy's hair-cut. I beleive that bee-hives and other styles required a trip to the beatuy parlor and quite a bit of hairspray. That costs money, and we all Peggy did not have that much money. She might have gotten a raise, but even with the extra money, something tells me Peggy would not want to spend it on the upkeep of a hairstyle, but on something else (a new wardrobe, or something else work related). A pony-tail is pretty simple and does not cost money to keep looking great
